BIC ball pen

An out of the box commercial

This commercial was intended to encourage people to use waterproof ball pens produced by this brand in an explicit way. It features a modern day relationship between two women who are seen to be passing flirtatious notes with each other.

They first make eye contact, and start exchanging notes. One of them writes her phone number on a napkin before she leaves and passes the napkin to the other women. She reaches to grab it but spills water on it. She frantically tries to clean it up, and begins to feel anxious. At the end she realizes the number is still there.

FORGOT

A Silent Movie

As the person behind the camera, I was responsible for making sure that all the shots looked strikingly beautiful, however, I was also responsible for establishing a rapport with the director as well as the editor. There were a lot of things that I had to keep in my mind while I was shooting each and every scene; some of them being coverage, planning and execution.

I was very resolute about displaying the director’s vision across the audiences. For this, I had to think from the director’s perspective and discuss the details with him prior to each scene which was shot by me. I never assumed what the director wanted to show, but always contributed to his ideas to further expand the possibility of how a scene could look better.

As a camera person, I wanted to make sure that I provide enough material to the editor for the post-production purposes. I shot enough coverage scenes and always shot for some extra time before starting a scene and before ending the scene, therefore, letting the editor unleash his creativity in the process of continuity editing.

I believe that a balanced relationship between the Director, Actor, Camera person and Editor is quite significant for the success of a film. I did my best to achieve this relationship through proper communication, flexibility, being altruistic and showing openness towards all the aspects that go into film-making.
